Lawrence Sher, ASC, is an American cinematographer and film director. He grew up in Teaneck, New Jersey, USA and went to Wesleyan University. He is known for his work on ‘Joker’ (2019), for which he received an Oscar nomination for Best Cinematography, ‘Godzilla: King of the Monsters’ (2019), ‘War Dogs’ (2016), ‘The Hangover’ (2009) and ‘Garden State’ (2004).
Sher frequently collaborates with director Todd Philipps and Zach Braff. He was also nominated for a BAFTA Award for Best Cinematography for his work on ‘Joker’ and also won the top prize, the Golden Frog, at the EnergaCamerimage festival in Poland in 2019 for the same film.
Lawrence has just completed filming on ‘Joker: Folie a deux’ – the follow up to the 2019 film which comes out in 2024.
With a keen eye for details and atmospheric lighting, Sher has established himself as a highly regarded cinematographer in the industry.
