刘寅 MICHAEL LIU

Michael Liu is a distinguished Chinese cinematographer known for his exceptional work Chinese cinema. With a career spanning over two decades, Liu has developed a reputation for his innovative visual storytelling and his ability to blend traditional Chinese aesthetics with modern cinematic techniques. After being educated at Beijing Film Academy, Liu honed his craft under the mentorship of renowned cinematographer Mr. Peter Pau, mastering the art of lighting, composition, and camera movement.

Liu’s portfolio includes a diverse array of films, from modern romantic comedies to grand sci-fi epics, earning him critical acclaim and many awards and nominations. Notable works include the biggest Chinese Si-Fi film series “The Wandering Earth”, in which he tried to capture the awe- inspiring spectacle and immerse the audience in a visually captivating experience. Also his collaborations with Chinese director Jia Ling, including “YOLO” and “Hi, Mom”, are both great commercial success and represented an unique female perspective that is often laking in today’s mainstream cinema.

Beyond his film work, Liu is a sought-after speaker and educator, sharing his expertise with aspiring cinematographers around the world.
